The more birthdays we have the harder it seems to be to have fun!! Sometimes the simple things in life are when we have so much fun! When we were kids fun was a part of our daily routines! So what happens as we get older? LIFE! But why?
I’m still trying to figure out why we don’t have fun as much as we did when we were younger! However, I don’t have the exact answers and I’m really not trying to figure it out I just want to have fun!!! Since my 40th birthday my goal is to enjoy each day! I’ve had many life changing events over the past three years. Each event changed me in someway and seemed like such a difficult blow to me. After the initial reaction, prayer and meditation; I had to bring myself back to calm and try to do something that I enjoyed doing. This has been the best medicine for me! While I still have rough days, a great way to dry my tears is with laughter while doing something fun!
So what exactly is your definition of Fun? Whatever you enjoy doing that leaves you with not a care in the world! If it brings a smile to your face then you must be having FUN!! But having fun is an Action that means you must be doing something! Instead of having a pity party or wallowing in whatever life is throwing at you find a way to have fun! Sometimes we can learn something from children as they always know how to have fun! Doing the simplest things that we may have enjoyed as a child or see other children doing now can be so much fun!!
How’s my summer of RAW eating going you ask? It is going FANTASTIC!! We’ve had plenty of salads, raw tacos and for the fourth of July I made my family black bean burgers, they have also had sweet potato and black bean spinach quesadillas. I ate one of my black bean burgers (not Raw) and it was very tasty! My family is not eating a completely raw lifestyle but they have made the decision to eat plant based foods! I’m so proud of them and we are talking, reading and information sharing through this entire process! It’s been a family learning and growing experience for all of us!!
Here’s what we have been eating:
This is one of my new Favs a breakfast tart with a cocunut, cashew crust and a hearty salad with a lemon chia seed drizzle on top.
Here’s my crust for a Raw Mixed Berry Cheesecake
This is my fruit and cashew mixture before I froze it!
This cheesecake was a HUGE hit! These past two weeks of eating Raw have been rough at times but over all a great experience. The key is panning so we will talk about planning more next week!
Lastly, I challenge you this week to do something FUN for yourself!! Whatever you choose to do make the decision to do just this one thing and make sure that you enjoy doing it!!
With you on this midlife journey!
